LIVE ONLINE CLASS!!!!!

Crafting Ireland is hosting a free online class on the 21st July at 3pm BST. In the class we will create some mini scrapbook layouts. These layouts are perfect for card makers who want to get into scrapbooking or for scrapbookers who find they are running out of space for bigger layouts! We will also make a desktop flip display stand for the pages so you can show them off where ever you like!

Supply list for the online class

Mini layout pages:

*4 sheets of cardboard/chipboard at 13cmx13cm

*10 sheets 6×6 paper cut down to 13x13cm – keep the off cuts!

*This will make 4 double sided pages so you will have 8 pages in total, you can of course make more if you wish!

* Polaroid style photo mats: photos are 7.4 x 7.4 cm and the white card to matt them on is 9.6cm x 8.1cm.

*You will need 8 photos and 8 photo mats

*Adhesives, border punches, trim, score board, duct tape and tools as usual

*Binding rings or ribbon (Binding rings do work the best)

*Crop a dile/eyelet setter and eyelets (optional)

*Hole punch

For the stand:

*1 x Sheet of chipboard 30cm long and 15cm high

*2 x pieces of chipboard 15cm high and 6cm wide

*Duct tape

*Paper or paint to cover it

*Optional – embellishments. I use tissue tape.

Karens Vintage Mini.

Hello,
Yesterday I received a  lovely email from Karen to let me know the mini album had arrived.
So here is a video for you –

BE WARNED: ’tis a bit wobbly due to the fact I was too lazy to find the tripod…. (shame on me!)

After I had made it I added some more to the cover, photos below.

How are you getting on with your albums? July 2nd is the posting deadline so you still have loads of time! I am usually working up to the deadline but once I started this I couldn’t stop so it was ready early for a change!

So, this is where i’ve been……

Hello,
I’ve been missing from blogland for a bit, but I have been busy, busy!
Mainly I have been spending alot of time with my Mum & Dad, he is not well and memories must be made.
(any good wishes gratefully accepted for him – x)
Those of you who know me well know about my book addiction. I read alot, I belong to a book club so I have one book a month to read but I usually have two or three on the go at once (sometimes if you mix all the stories up you get a GREAT story!) But I have just finished “This I Know” by Susannah Conway, it is the most beautiful book about how she found herself again through photography after a tragic loss (warning: tissues required!!)
This months bookclub choice was “False Impression” by Jeffrey Archer – I chose it, its the first of his books i’ve ever read and it is unputdownable!!

I got an invite to join Things Arty, so I have spent hours uploading images and discriptions of prints (there are still notebooks, keyrings and randomness to go!)
Its a bit like Etsy, but I havent’ sold alot on Etsy, so i’m trying this aswell!

I am in love with 5×7″ canvas – it is so quick to paint these little pictures, I’m building up quite a collection! I’m hoping to get them made into greetings cards…….. More on that later!!
And of course I have been working on my mini book for this months swap, Karen if you are reading this, here is a sneaky peek of your album!! the postal deadline is July 2nd, but the theme was Vintage so once I started I couldn’t stop!  A few more tweaks and it will be in the post on Monday. I might even do a little video to share it once Karen has received it.
So, that is all my news, its lashing rain and my car is in for a service today so I am housebound…. oh dear, what a pity……. painting, here I come!!!!

The Easy-peasy mini book!

Ok, the list for this mini was already published but i’ll tell you all again (just in case you missed it)

A4 Card – this comes in a range of colours in packs of 50 sheets for around €3.99- (this means you make a lot of bases for albums cheaply!)
Cutting mat
Craft knife /Paper trimmer
Ruler / pencil
Double sided tape
Wet glue
Scoring tool /bone folder
Distress inks / applicator
2 x chipboard covers 14x18cm (cereal box will do but needs to be doubled for strength)
3 x binding rings or a strip of  Bindit-all rings.
4 x Hinge clips (Tim Holtz or similar size)

Your choice of 12×12″ papers, embellishments, ribbons and fibres to match paper.
This album is for Portrait style photos, it will hold 20 4″x6″

I used black card and K& Co Lifes Journey papers – the dimensions are shown on cream card just so its easier to see.

Step 1
You need to make 2 of page style A and 2 of page style B:

To make page style A:

Cut a piece of card to 26 x 20cm
Score at 13cm vertically and at 1cm top and bottom (see pink lines in the photo)
Trim off the 1cm score line on left side only.
Fold in the score lines, add adhesive top and bottom and fold to make a pocket.

Now the only difference between your 2 style A pockets is this:-
cut a piece of card 13x18cm and score 1cm on the left long side. Attach the scored piece to the inside of your pocket and fold it back on itself.
I punched to edge of mine and obviously this is after I added papers but you get the idea…

Page style B

You need to cut a piece of card to 15x19cm and score 1cm on the left, right and bottom edge.
Trim the corners so that it folds neatly.

Fold your score lines, add adhesive and cover with a piece of card that measures 13x18cm – this forms a top loading pocket.

Step 2

Paint a 2cm border around your chipboard covers (both sides)In a colour that compliments your design papers,  then bind your album using rings & eyelets, ribbon or a binding system such as Bind-it-All.

Step 3

Make 4 tags for your pockets – cut them to measure 12.5x18cm.

Step 4

Mat all of your pages and tags with your chosen paper. Add ribbons and fibres to your hinge clips and attach these to your tags.

The inside of this book has been kept really plain to allow for large photos but you can get as fancy as you please with the cover!

I hope this was easy to follow, have fun making it!

The Crafting Ireland Crop.

Last Saturday was the Crafting Ireland crop in Athlone, a great day was had by all.
Kate from Create with Kate brought her shop along and did a great Make & Take with the Tim Holtz ” In the Bag” die.

You would not believe the amount of goodies this woman has….. so much in fact that I was bamboozled by choice and ended up buying very little! (“little” is a relative term!)
She has tonnes of Prima, Tim Holtz, Bo Bunny, Graphic 45……. the list goes on, check out her shop its delicious!!!

We made the mini book that I showed you in the last post, I decided to call it the “Easy-peasy mini book” because it was just that! I will add the tutorial in another post later today for those of you who weren’t there and want to give it a go.
Timi demonstrated Inktense colour bars – give her those and a pack of baby wipes and its amazing the layouts she makes! I’m definately going to pull mine out and play with them after seeing that.

Nicole brought along her ECraft diecutting machine – I always say I couldn’t justify having one of these gadgets untill its Halloween time and then I get slightly obsessed with haunted houses and wrought iron gates. Still , this year I know Nicole has one so I might order my haunted houses from her!

Athlone is a three and a half hour drive from Kerry so I want to say a big, giant thank you to Ann Healy for the great company and many laughs on the journey and over the weekend!
