Valentines Swap.

The lovely Aideen from Aideen’s swaps organised a swap for Valentines day and since I hadn’t joined in since Halloween I was delighted to take part.

My partner was Kay and today my gift arrived – look!

The box is full of little love themed die- cuts, as well as a tag book, card and chocolate! this photo doesn’t really do the metallic colours much justice – it really is gorgeous.

I had made a shadow box that held a heart and a valentine card which I sent with a bag of chocolates, I wish I had thought to send on some extra bits and pieces. I posted my gift on Monday and on Tuesday the post man knocked on the door and handed me back my own package…… An Post had delivered it to the senders address rather than the ‘To’ address….. sometimes the postal service is questionable!

This is what I made;

The heart is raised from the back of the box to give more dimension. The box is made from chipboard and covered with old book pages.

The card is super simple but I was pleased with it (in case you don’t know, i’m not the worlds best card maker)

It is so lovely to have a pretty package delivered to you,to unwrap it and see what someone has put time and effort into making for you. So thank you Kay and thanks Aideen for organising the swaps, I look forward to the next one!

The Best Season of All.

Well, its here again, the season of new boots, the season of cosy, my favourite season of all – Autumn!
On the first of the month I started with subtle decorations, even I thought it was a little early for pumpkin carving, so thanks to a little Pinterest inspiration (who am i kidding, it was hours of deliciously lost time finding all sorts of Autumnal goodness) I started to gather some leaves and cones on my walks and put this together.

Inspiration

The jar in the centre is covered with leaves and wrapped in raffia. I used Mod Podge to glue them on but the leaves had to be held in place while they dried, so the next one I made I used a hot glue gun and that was much quicker. It has a battery operated tea light inside which creates a lovely glow along with the small Pumpkin spice candles.
I found the little clay pumpkins at Mr Price, they were really cheap so there are six or seven in the tray, the tray itself was made by Himself. The conversation went something like this:

Me: Do you have any wooden trays lying about in your workshop?
Tim: What kind of wooden tray?
Me: Oh you know, one about 24″ by 6″ by 2″….
Tim: Hmmmmm…………
(imagine measuring, the sound of sawing and nailing)
And then I came home and found this.

Thank you Tim!!!! xxx

The Virginia Creeper that grows across the back wall of our garden is a great barometer of the seasons. The leaves turn the most beautiful red colour and then start to fall, but with a chiminea and candle lamps the garden is still a lovely place to be. That clay pot with the spiders web on is a lamp, we have electric sockets on the deck so it plugs in and looks so pretty – if I was any good I would insert a photo of it lit here, but its raining at the moment, so I’m not going out to take a photo!

Along with decorations I have made a few Halloween Trick or Treat bags for a swap organised by Aideen . They went in the post today, so as soon as my swap partner gets them I shall put up some piccys.

Have a lovely week xxx

Karens Vintage Mini.

Hello,
Yesterday I received a  lovely email from Karen to let me know the mini album had arrived.
So here is a video for you –

BE WARNED: ’tis a bit wobbly due to the fact I was too lazy to find the tripod…. (shame on me!)

After I had made it I added some more to the cover, photos below.

How are you getting on with your albums? July 2nd is the posting deadline so you still have loads of time! I am usually working up to the deadline but once I started this I couldn’t stop so it was ready early for a change!

So, this is where i’ve been……

Hello,
I’ve been missing from blogland for a bit, but I have been busy, busy!
Mainly I have been spending alot of time with my Mum & Dad, he is not well and memories must be made.
(any good wishes gratefully accepted for him – x)
Those of you who know me well know about my book addiction. I read alot, I belong to a book club so I have one book a month to read but I usually have two or three on the go at once (sometimes if you mix all the stories up you get a GREAT story!) But I have just finished “This I Know” by Susannah Conway, it is the most beautiful book about how she found herself again through photography after a tragic loss (warning: tissues required!!)
This months bookclub choice was “False Impression” by Jeffrey Archer – I chose it, its the first of his books i’ve ever read and it is unputdownable!!

I got an invite to join Things Arty, so I have spent hours uploading images and discriptions of prints (there are still notebooks, keyrings and randomness to go!)
Its a bit like Etsy, but I havent’ sold alot on Etsy, so i’m trying this aswell!

I am in love with 5×7″ canvas – it is so quick to paint these little pictures, I’m building up quite a collection! I’m hoping to get them made into greetings cards…….. More on that later!!
And of course I have been working on my mini book for this months swap, Karen if you are reading this, here is a sneaky peek of your album!! the postal deadline is July 2nd, but the theme was Vintage so once I started I couldn’t stop!  A few more tweaks and it will be in the post on Monday. I might even do a little video to share it once Karen has received it.
So, that is all my news, its lashing rain and my car is in for a service today so I am housebound…. oh dear, what a pity……. painting, here I come!!!!
